Eaker Air Force Base, ArkansasNational Center for Craftsmanship Receives Funding for Arkansas DeConstruct Project

September 27, 2010 – The National Center for Craftsmanship has received initial funding to develop a substantial DeConstruct™ project at Westminster Village of the Mid-South, a retirement village, on the grounds of former Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville, Arkansas. NCC will partner with Westminster Village and plans to deconstruct more than 300 housing units that have remained on the Air Force property since its closure in 1993. Read the story.


NCC certifies WOMEN Deconstructors

April 29, 2010 – The National Center for Craftsmanship has pioneered the use of deconstruction as an educational tool, the first program to do so in the country. The majority of students come from the local Poudre School District and other youth programs such as Turning Point Youth and Family Services. However, the Steele’s Market project provided another unique benefit: the first program in the country to train women transitioning from Community Corrections back into the general population. Sutherlands and NCC form Strategic Business Alliance

March 25, 2010 – Sutherland’s Lumber and Design Gallery of Fort Collins and the National Center for Craftsmanship  are excited to announce the formation of a strategic business alliance to provide education, training, and marketing services to local businesses and contractors. Read the story.


National Center for Craftsmanship featured by Discovery Channel

January 28, 2010 – NCC’s 2009 Overland Trail Deconstruct project aired on Discovery Channel’s Planet Green “Renovation Nation” Thursday, January 28th at 4:00 pm MST.


National Center for Craftsmanship featured in New Balance National Marketing Campaign

June 15, 2009 – New Balance, the only athletic company still manufacturing footwear in the United States, launched a national awareness campaign to celebrate its domestic manufacturing workforce. The campaign includes an online documentary that features the National Center for Crafstmanship and invites consumers to participate in a sweepstakes to win a free trip to the company’s manufacturing facility in Main. For every entry in the sweepstakes, New Balance will donate $1 to NCC, up to a total of $50,000.


Deconstruction Projects Help Youths Build on Their Future
